Terms of service

These terms apply when you use the Gracekeeps website, the Gracekeeps app and the services of our care specialists (together, “Gracekeeps”). By creating an account or using Gracekeeps, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you use Gracekeeps through an employer, insurer or other organization, that organization’s agreement with us may also affect what is available to you.

Gracekeeps is not legal, financial or medical advice

Gracekeeps provides practical guidance, organization tools and support. It does not provide legal, financial, tax, medical or mental health advice, and using Gracekeeps does not create an attorney, doctor, therapist or advisor relationship with anyone.

Guides, plans, checklists and drafts are general information. Rules differ by state and by situation, and they change. For advice about your circumstances, talk with a licensed professional. Care specialists will tell you when you need one.

Gracekeeps is not an emergency service

Care specialists are not available around the clock and cannot respond to emergencies. In the US, if you are in crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. In an emergency, call 911.

Your account

• You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
• Give accurate information and keep your password safe. You are responsible for activity in your account.
• Tell us right away if you think someone else has accessed your account.

Your content

You own what you add to Gracekeeps: your documents, notes, letters and other content. You give us permission to store, process and display your content only as needed to provide Gracekeeps to you and to the people you choose to share with. You are responsible for having the right to upload what you add.

Guided drafts and writing help

Legacy’s guided drafts of a will, power of attorney or health care directive are starting points. A draft is not a valid legal document until it is completed, signed and witnessed as your state requires. You are responsible for reviewing any draft, and we recommend reviewing it with an attorney.

AI writing help creates drafts of letters and obituaries from what you enter. Drafts can contain mistakes. Please review them carefully before you use them.

Sharing, trusted contacts and memorial pages

You control who you invite and what they can see. Trusted contacts receive access only after we verify a death. Memorial pages can be seen by anyone with the link, and you are responsible for what you post there. We may remove content that breaks these terms.

Acceptable use

Please do not:

• Use Gracekeeps to break the law or to harm, harass or deceive anyone.
• Upload content you do not have the right to share, or content that is abusive or hateful.
• Try to access accounts or information that are not yours, or interfere with how Gracekeeps works.
• Copy, resell or reverse engineer Gracekeeps, except where the law allows it.

Plans, billing and cancellation

The free plan costs nothing. Plus is billed monthly or yearly at the price shown when you subscribe, and renews until you cancel. You can cancel at any time. Plus stays active until the end of the period you paid for, and then your account moves to the free plan. Unless the law requires otherwise, payments are not refundable for partial periods.

If an organization provides your access, your access depends on that organization’s program. If the program ends, we will tell you in advance and you can keep using the free plan.

Local providers and the partner network

Gracekeeps may help you find local professionals and services. These providers are independent. We do not provide their services, and you choose whether to use them. Partners cannot pay to rank higher in what you see.

Changes to Gracekeeps and these terms

We improve Gracekeeps over time, which means features may change. If we make important changes to these terms, we will tell you before they take effect. If you keep using Gracekeeps after that, the new terms apply.

Ending your use

You can stop using Gracekeeps and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put others at risk. Where possible, we will warn you first and give you a chance to download your content.

Disclaimers

We work hard to keep Gracekeeps accurate, available and secure, but we provide it “as is.” To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that Gracekeeps will always be available, error free or right for your particular situation.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Gracekeeps is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 if you paid nothing. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Disputes

If something goes wrong, please contact us first. Most problems can be solved quickly and informally. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state where Gracekeeps has its principal place of business, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
